Now that the visiting theatre groups have returned home and all the lights have been taken down, costumes cleaned and stored away along with props, set pieces and other theatrical paraphernalia, we are now able to sit back and digest the outcome of the inaugural Rickrack in the Wack Theatre Festival. And the conclusion? It was a success!
Praise has poured in from participants and audiences of this eclectic and entertaining event. It is no easy task to put on a fringe-style festival featuring 12 plays, each one performed four times over a period of five days. But we did it!
The Festival, which was a logistical challenge, evolved into an enlightening and entertaining experience for both performers and theatre patrons. Hard work by our team of technicians, ushers, floor managers, volunteers and the preparations of the festival committee made it all possible. We heartily thank them all!
A special thank you also goes out to our sponsoring organization the Chilliwack Players Guild for taking RickRack in the ‘Wack on, along with our sponsors: the City of Chilliwack, 89.5 The Drive, and the Myriad Group of Companies, without whose help this success would have been impossible.
Rickrack in the Wack is a fascinating work in progress and we hope to be back again next year with another exciting, fringe-style theatre festival. Stay tuned!
